Every spring, downtown Greenfield transforms into something joyful.

Music fills the streets. Families gather downtown. Local businesses spill out onto sidewalks. Conversations about pollinators, climate resilience, local agriculture, and sustainability emerge across the city.

That spirit was on full display once again during the 16th annual Bee Fest, which expanded into Energy Park for the first time this year and drew hundreds of attendees from across the region.

At PV Squared Solar, we were proud to participate in this year’s event and support the continued growth of a celebration that reflects so much of what makes Greenfield unique.

What Is Bee Fest?

Organized by the Greenfield Business Association, Bee Fest is a community-wide celebration centered around pollinators, sustainability, local food systems, environmental stewardship, and downtown vitality.

But Bee Fest is also something broader than that.

It is a reflection of Greenfield itself. A city with deep agricultural roots, a strong culture of civic engagement, and a growing commitment to climate resilience, walkability, local business, and sustainable infrastructure.

This year’s expansion into Energy Park brought even more energy to the event, creating additional space for vendors, music, education, and community gathering.

PV Squared’s own Brittany Hathaway, who serves on the board of directors for the Greenfield Business Association, spoke with the press during the event about what Bee Fest represents for the city.

That idea resonates deeply with us.

Bee Fest honors Greenfield’s agricultural and ecological history while also pointing toward a future shaped by clean energy, resilient infrastructure, thriving downtown spaces, local food systems, and community-rooted economic development.

It feels both nostalgic and forward-looking at the same time.

Why Events Like This Matter

At PV Squared, we often talk about infrastructure.
But resilient communities are built from more than electrical systems alone.

They are also built through gathering spaces, local organizations, civic participation, environmental stewardship, small businesses, and shared celebrations of place.

Bee Fest brings those elements together in a way that feels tangible and human.

It creates space for conversations about sustainability to feel local, accessible, and joyful rather than abstract.

This year, PV Squared participated in Bee Fest as both a local business and an active community partner.

From conversations with our neighbors and fellow Greenfield businesses to participating in the expanded downtown festivities, the event was a reminder of how interconnected clean energy work really is.

Solar does not exist separately from the health of a community.

It exists alongside efforts to strengthen local agriculture, support walkable downtowns, improve environmental outcomes, advocate for climate resilience, and invest in infrastructure designed to serve future generations.

That broader ecosystem is part of why we are proud to call Greenfield home.

Looking Ahead

As Bee Fest continues to grow, so does the broader movement it represents.

Across Franklin County and Western Massachusetts, communities are thinking more intentionally about sustainability, energy systems, climate resilience, local economies, and the future of downtowns and public spaces.

Events like Bee Fest help make those conversations visible. More importantly, they make them communal.

We are grateful to the Greenfield Business Association, volunteers, organizers, performers, vendors, and everyone who helped make this year’s event possible.
