PV Squared Puts the “Heart” in “Heart & Solar” at the Annual Connecticut River Source to Sea Cleanup
“This is the heart in our ‘Heart & Solar’ mission…”
PV Squared Solar, the worker-owned solar design and installation cooperative, born and thriving in Greenfield since 2002, proudly continues its annual tradition of supporting the Connecticut River Conservancy’s Source to Sea Cleanup, sending 5–10 volunteers each year and providing box trucks to haul away the heaviest and most challenging debris this weekend, September 27th, 2025.
Each fall, PV Squared team members and their families join thousands of volunteers across New England to remove trash from the Connecticut River watershed. From hauling waterlogged mattresses and tires out of the river’s depths to clearing debris from abandoned encampments, PV Squared’s crew tackles the toughest cleanup tasks head-on, demonstrating a hands-on commitment to the community and the planet.

“This is the heart in our ‘Heart & Solar’ mission,” said Jon Child, Design & Sales Specialist, Worker Owner and founding member of PV Squared Solar, who has been participating in this annual volunteer event since the beginning. “Installing renewable energy systems is only one part of how we care for our region. Rolling up our sleeves and helping restore our beloved river is another.”
PV Squared’s support includes not only volunteer hours but also the use of company box trucks to transport large, heavy items that would otherwise be impossible for volunteers to remove safely. This essential logistical help ensures that tons of debris are diverted from the river ecosystem each year.
By living its values of community-first and planet-first, PV Squared continues to prove that solar energy is about more than clean power, it’s about building a cleaner, more resilient world.
